Project #1 (Pop Zen-Tangle Collage) * For this piece, I used pencil, colored pencil, sharpie and magazine cutouts. * The techniques used are zen tangle, and collage. * The subject matter for this piece, was the magazine cutout of the snowboarder, and the quote on his board. * The color scheme for this piece is warm colors, such as yellow, orange and red. * The piece is very exciting and interesting. * My favorite thing about this piece, is the message it conveys. The quote on the snowboard ties the piece together very well theme. * My least favorite thing about this piece, would have to be the color scheme. The colors didn't turn out as bright as I wanted them. If I could re-do the color scheme, I would have chosen cooler colors, such a blue, green, and yellow.
Project #2 and #3 (Pt.1 Comic panel abstraction (4 panel drawings) (Pt.2 Abstracted comic painting) * For Pt.1, I used pencil and colored pencil. For Pt.2, I used pencil and acrylic paints. * I explored the technique of abstracting forms on both pieces. * The concept behind both pieces, were the changes from the original piece to the final piece. * The color scheme for both pieces relied mainly on the original cartoon. (Red, blue, green, yellow, and black.) * The style of both pieces is very distinct since it's very abstract. * My favorite thing about both of these pieces is the retro look to it. * My least favorite thing about both pieces is having to copy another artist's look. It was very hard to find a comic, both interesting and not too challenging to complete.
Project #4 (Exaggerated Perspective Portrait) * For this piece, I used pencil along with a paper blender. * The techniques I explored were Exaggerated Foreshortening and drawing. * The concept behind this piece is the exaggerate difference in the shapes, to give the illusion. * The color scheme, is graphite. * The style of this piece is both realistic but with exaggerated shortening it can give you the illusion of not looking realistic. * My favorite thing about this piece is the huge peace sign, that gives the illusion of it being an big hand when it is really just the angle. * My least favorite thing about this piece is the background. I wish I would have done a cool backdrop, but I didn't want to take away from the image.
Project #5 (Relief Print) * For this piece, I used printmaking Ink. * The technique I explored was printmaking. * The concept around this piece was to create a Christmas related piece. Therefore, I carved out Poinsettia flowers. * The color scheme, revolved around Christmas therefore, I used red, green and white. * The style of this piece is realistic, but I incorporated a holiday into it. * My favorite thing about this piece, is the Christmas vibe it gives off. * My least favorite thing about this piece is the way the ink came off in the spots where there were no patterns.
Project #6 (Dry point etch printmaking of plant life) * For this piece, I used glass along with dry point etch printmaking tools to create this piece. * The technique I explored was Dry point etch printmaking. * The concept around this piece was to either take a picture of nature or find one of your own, and then etch print make it. * The color scheme can be any color since you can print multiple, but I'm leaning towards black and green. * The style of the piece is naturalistic. * My favorite thing about this piece, is that the point I used is one of my favorite plants. (air plant.) * My least favorite thing is sometimes it takes a couple if tries to get the perfect print, in which can be a long process but worth it!
